About this deal

Even with allowances for the vintage of the original elements, it was clear that little real work went into cleaning up the source and truly remixing them for the home theater environment. I never liked this movie so much, but since the expert critics say is that good then it is that good, like it or not is something else.

There is so much more detail here to be heard, the life and vibrancy of the otherworldly locations and scenes really comes across well, and you can hear the background dialogue with a clarity such that you can determine what language the characters are speaking. Setting a new standard for Blu-ray releases and supplemental material, Blade Runner seems to have just about every conceivable extra imaginable in this set. I've seen the film at least 50 times over the years (seriously), and was absolutely floored by how many visual elements I'd simply never seen before. However, because the 1992 cut was lopped together quickly, the editing was a bit clunky and some visual effects inconsistencies from the original remained.

This is also one of the few discs that my Blu-ray player remembers even after it is ejected, so I can stop the film halfway through and come back to it the next day. I can now wholeheartedly say that Blade Runner: The Final Cut is my definitive director's cut of the film.

Given the circumstances of watching two of the greatest science-fiction films back to back at such a young age, my little 10-year-old brain was suitably blown. For the week that ended on February 3rd, Warner Home Entertainment's Blade Runner 2049 stayed on top of the Blu-ray-only media chart. Featuring five completely different cuts of the film, stellar audio and video and the most comprehensive set of extras ever assembled for a Blu-ray release, Warner has left no stone unturned. Although the narration was clumsy, it didn't alter the narrative at all (it was simply grafted on existing completed scenes), while the happy ending -- while stupid -- again didn't alter anything that came before it. Vangelis' amazing score is crystal clear as well and this TrueHD presentation reveals even more layers of synthesized bass and atmosphere in this revolutionary soundtrack.

The studio offers 1080p/VC-1 encodes of not only 'The Final Cut,' but also the original 1982 domestic and International versions of the film, and the 1992 Director's Cut. Blade Runner follows Harrison Ford’s Rick Deckard, an ex-cop in Los Angeles, 2019, who’s brought back into the fold to find and 'retire' (i. I can't remember the circumstances that led to both my mom and my sister not being home on a Friday night, but it was just me and my dad, some pizza, a bunch of junk food, and a trip to our local VideoWatch (before they were bought by Hollywood Video). What’s more, the Final Cut version presented here really does feel like the definitive version of Scott’s vision. the various cuts of 'Blade Runner,' it's a concise history of one the most convoluted film reconstructions ever attempted.
